I love being a dad. It’s brought so much joy, alongside a sense of deep purpose and identity.
I love being a dad, and I'm also relieved that my eldest is out of the home at university and he's almost not a teenager anymore. My daughter is 14, so she and I still have a ways to go and it’s a whole different trip.
I've felt the pressure to protect and provide, the confusion about how to parent, and the ongoing struggle it can be to show up as a dad, a partner, and at work day-in day-out.
It's a lot.
On top of that, the expectations of what it means to be a dad and a partner continue to shift under our feet. It's confusing to know if you're doing it right or not, and it can be hard to tell the difference!
What you thought you were supposed to be and do isn't always what works. How your own dad parented you often doesn't work so well on our own kids, or isn’t how you want to parent..
Being a dad today can feel like:
You're not doing it right
You're not doing enough
You're not really connected to your kids or your partner
You're in the way
You're doing everything you're supposed to and your partner is still disappointed
You don't even know what you're supposed to do
Add to all this the belief that you have to figure it all out on your own.
Actually it's more than that - it's that even seeking support, or talking about how hard it is is a sign of weakness and further proof that you're not doing it right!
Ooph that's a heavy load.
I know because I've carried it (and still do sometimes).
As a man, I know how difficult it is to reach out for support or guidance.
I also know that seeking support and guidance has been 100% the best thing I've ever done when I've felt confused, frustrated and flat-out at a dead end.
Having the support of a man who can see you clearly, give honest reflection, and clear guidance is powerful. I’ve leant on it many times, and continue to.
And I also provide that support to other men in men’s groups and in my coaching, and it’s what I’m offering here.
I've created this Father's Day Special to provide solution-focused support for you. One-hour for $69. It's 60 minutes that's completely about you.
This is your time to get:
Clarity on whatever situation you want to bring, whether it's parenting or relationship or work
At least one road-tested tool or perspective to use in your life immediately
A clear sense of direction and know exactly what your next step is
I want you to leave the session feeling confident (and maybe with some swagger, because dad swagger is the sexiest swagger).
So if you're a dad reading this, or you know a dad this would make a good gift for, you can get it here:
